The check covers an OVHcloud product page, its separate OVHcloud configurator, IONOS, two attempted Contabo views, Liquid Web, DigitalOcean, Namecheap and netcup. Each row below keeps its own URL, currency view, captured price text, tax evidence and check date.

What counts as a clear tax boundary

A row passes only when the same page that displays the price also says that tax is excluded, added, included, or controlled by a visible VAT setting. A general tax help link is not enough if it never tells the reader whether the amount beside the plan is before or after tax.

An absent phrase is recorded as not captured, not as proof that a provider never charges tax. A blocked view is kept separate from both pass and fail. This prevents a network challenge from becoming a fabricated pricing conclusion.

The annualization rule is deliberately strict: a monthly amount is not turned into a yearly amount unless that exact page marks its tax boundary. A contract term, a renewal label and a tax label answer different questions; none can stand in for another.

One provider, two official pages, two tax labels

OVHcloud is the useful control case. Its VPS listing shows USD starting amounts but the checked listing did not expose a tax-boundary sentence. The linked configurator separately attaches a pre-tax label to the selected location price and the term total. [A] [B]

The same provider uses two official pages with two different levels of tax disclosure, so the number on the product page and the number in the configurator are not on a safely interchangeable basis. Carry the page URL with the amount; do not transfer the configurator's tax label back to the listing row.

Is a low cost VPS server price before or after tax?

It depends on the exact page. In this dated check, the OVHcloud configurator is pre-tax, the IONOS page says tax will apply, and the netcup view displays VAT-inclusive amounts. The OVHcloud listing, Liquid Web, DigitalOcean price table and Namecheap page do not state a usable before-or-after-tax boundary for the cited plan amount. The two Contabo attempts cannot answer the question because the site returned a security check. See every row and quote.

How to read a quote without inventing a total

1. Save the URL and the visible currency or country setting with the price.
2. Look beside the plan, below the plan cards, in the country selector and in the page footer for an included, excluded or added-tax statement.
3. If the tax statement is elsewhere on the same page but does not define the displayed amount, keep the price boundary unclear.
4. If the site blocks access, preserve the status and returned message. Do not substitute an older screenshot or a third-party copy for the current page.
5. Only annualize after the row itself passes the tax-boundary check. Keep promotional duration and renewal wording as separate fields.

Inference: a smaller headline number is not necessarily a smaller payable amount when the rows use different tax scopes. This page therefore reports disclosure only; it does not rank providers or compare brand size.
